Wool, silk, hand-knotted Oriental or machine-made polyester, cleaned in the room where it lies. Our technician reads the care tag first and works in slow passes, so the dirt comes up and the dye stays put.

More about rug cleaning
Every fiber, the same care
Wool, silk or polyester, cleaned the same careful way
LocalPro cleans area rugs inside homes around Chattanooga, and a hand-knotted Oriental gets the same trained attention as the machine-made piece in the den. The label is read before anything comes off the van, and the solution is chosen to suit that rug.
Plenty of companies treat wool as a different animal the moment somebody says the word. We do not run two sheets, and no fiber changes what lands on your invoice.
What fiber changes is the chemistry, the moisture and how fast our technician moves. A wool rug earns a milder solution and slower passes, so the soil lifts up out of the pile instead of being driven into the foundation, and the clean holds about three times longer than a surface pass.
In your home, start to finish
Nothing gets rolled up and driven off

The old way around here was pickup: your rug went into a van, across town to a plant, and came back weeks later. We do not work that way. Our equipment comes to the rug, and the rug stays in your home.
No bare floor for weeks, no corner creased in transit. You stand there and watch the dirt come up out of it. Call 423-284-0493 and describe the rug, or text 423-284-0493 the measurements.
Our technicians are professionally trained and check the cleaning code before anything starts, then follow the steps it calls for, whether the rug is marked W, S, WS or X. The low-moisture process is safer for every one of them, delicate and solvent-only fibers included, and the solutions are non-toxic and safe for kids and pets.

Ever had a rug turn sticky a week after a cleaning?
That tacky feeling is detergent the machine couldn't rinse back out. It dries inside the fiber and stays there, and sticky fiber grabs the next soil that walks across the rug.
Our Promise
If the clean doesn't satisfy you, the visit is free.
Not a credit toward next time. Not a manager who stops returning calls. Tell us what fell short, we come back and redo it at no charge, and if it still isn't right, we tear up the invoice and you owe nothing.
Size by size
From a 3x5 accent to a 9x12
Take the length, take the width, multiply. That product is your square footage, and the table below turns it into a starting figure in one step. Rugs start at $1 a square foot and typically run, on average, $1 to $2 a square foot. Fiber never moves that rate; add-ons such as pet treatment or protectant, listed under the table, go on top.
| Common size | Square feet | Starts at |
|---|---|---|
| 3x5 accent | 15 | from $15 |
| 5x7 | 35 | from $35 |
| 6x9 | 54 | from $54 |
| 8x10 | 80 | from $80 |
| 9x12 | 108 | from $108 |
One caveat at the small end: every visit starts at $99, so that is the figure for a single 5x7 on its own. Two or three rugs clear that floor, and so does adding wall-to-wall. Three rooms of carpet start at $109, and most rug visits here turn into rug-and-carpet visits. The full sheet, upholstery included, sits on our pricing page.
Add-ons price the same on a rug as anywhere else: pet treatment from $30 with pet jobs starting at $149, protectant and sanitizer from $20 each with those visits starting at $119. Nothing lands on the invoice you did not say yes to.
Fiber by fiber
What is your rug made of, and what does that change?

Flip a corner over. Most rugs carry a label underneath listing fiber content, and that line tells our technician which solution comes off the van. With no label, the back answers it: knot by knot means hand-knotted, a printed grid means machine-made.
Wool and silk
- Springs back when you press a thumb into it
- Warm and coarse under the hand; silk runs cool and shines as light moves
- Dyes set decades ago in small batches, so we test first
Polyester, nylon and olefin
- Slick between the fingers with a faint sheen
- Holds furniture dents long after the chair has moved
- Takes stronger chemistry and lets go of soil faster
Cotton flatweaves, jute and viscose are thirsty and quick to brown if they get over-wetted. We name the fiber before we start, and if a rug should not be wet-cleaned at all, you hear it plainly.
Fringe
Can fringe come back, or is gray permanent?

Gray fringe is usually soil, not age, and soil comes out. Fringe sits at floor level with no pile to hide behind, so it takes the traffic first and shows it worst.
On a hand-knotted rug the fringe is not trim, it is the warp the whole rug is tied onto. It gets cleaned along its length by hand, then combed straight while damp. On a machine-made rug the fringe was stitched on afterwards, so it gets a lighter touch.
Two things we will not promise. Fringe already shredded or worn to stubs ends up clean and still short, and browning wicked up from an old spill sometimes lifts only partway. You hear both at the door, with the price.
Pet accidents
A dog accident on a wool rug

Urine on wool is its own problem. The fiber is protein, the accident is protein, and the two get along better than anybody wants. Our treatment is protein and enzyme based, so it breaks the deposit apart at its source.
The odor side carries a 100% pet odor removal guarantee. The visible mark is where we stay honest: a fresh accident usually comes out clean, one that sat through a summer may only lighten, and one a previous cleaner hit with the wrong product is the hardest job we see.
Pet work rides along on the same visit. If the dog has been using the rug and the carpet beside it, say so when you book, because the ultraviolet sweep then covers both. Our pet stain and odor service has the detail.
FREE
Same promise on a rug as on anything else we touch: love the clean or it's free, on a small accent rug and a hand-knotted heirloom alike.
Dry time

Your floor underneath
What happens to the floor under your rug

A barrier goes down between the rug and your floor before a drop of solution is sprayed, and because the process is low moisture there is very little to stop. Our carpet cleaning page explains the method.
That barrier is there for the floor's sake, not the rug's. Wood, laminate and plank all dislike standing water, and a rug soaked through in place sends it straight down to whatever it lies on. Our equipment lifts the soil out of the pile with a fraction of the moisture, so what reaches the floor is nothing at all.
It is the same job whether the rug lies in a front room on Lookout Mountain, a ranch in Hixson or a new subdivision in Ringgold. The technician reads the fiber, picks the solution for that code, and works the rug in slow passes. It is walkable again in about an hour.

Rug questions people actually ask us
Does wool take a different rate from polyester?
No. Every area rug starts at $1 a square foot, whether the pile is wool, silk, viscose, cotton or a polyester rug from a big-box store. Fiber changes how we work, not what you pay. Wool gets milder chemistry and slower passes. The invoice reads the same.
How do I work out my rug's square footage before I call?
Multiply the length by the width in feet. A 5x7 is 35 square feet, a 6x9 is 54, a 9x12 is 108, so at the starting rate of a dollar a square foot those run about $35, $54 and $108. Every visit starts at $99, and that sets the floor when one small rug is the whole visit.
What happens to the fringe on a hand-knotted rug?
It is worked by hand. On a hand-knotted rug the fringe is the warp the whole thing is tied onto, so we treat it as structure: cleaned gently along its length, then combed straight while damp. Gray fringe is nearly always soil and comes back lighter. Fringe already chewed short ends up clean and still short.
Will the wood floor underneath get wet while you clean?
No. A barrier goes down between the rug and your floor before anything is sprayed, and the low-moisture process puts so little water into the fiber that none reaches the boards. That holds on wood, laminate or vinyl plank alike, and the rug is dry where it lies in about an hour.
Can a wool rug recover from a dog accident?
Usually, and the smell carries our 100% pet odor removal guarantee. The treatment is protein and enzyme based, so it breaks the accident apart at the source. Pet work is an add-on from $30, and pet jobs start at $149. Wool does grip a visible urine mark harder than nylon.
How long are you at the house to clean one rug?
Under an hour for a single room-size rug, longer for a dense wool piece or one carrying pet work. Then it dries in about an hour where it lies, so a morning appointment is walkable by lunch. Most people add carpet or a sofa to the same trip.
