The drive from downtown Chattanooga is twenty-five miles out Lee Highway, roughly thirty-five minutes. Our technician works the loaded lanes hardest and grooms the pile back upright before leaving.

Getting out here

About thirty-five minutes out Lee Highway, and dry again within the hour

US-11 and US-64 run together through McDonald, and that stretch of Lee Highway is the whole route out from downtown Chattanooga. Twenty-five miles from downtown, past Ooltewah, White Oak Mountain on your shoulder the last of the way in. Cleveland is a little under seven miles east.

Three rooms, 450 square feet counted across them, and very little water goes into any of them. Bedrooms, halls and stairs all get the same process, and treads are worked by hand. Call 423-284-0493, give the room count, and we will talk you through how the visit runs.

A good many of these calls are one hall runner and nothing else, and that is a job we are glad to take. It gets the same trained technician and the same method as a five-bedroom house.

The McDonald job

Arena footing does not stay in the arena

Entry hall rug and runner cleaned in place in a home on acreage

The Tri-State Exhibition Center sits at 200 Natures Trail SW at the foot of White Oak Mountain: an indoor arena, several outdoor arenas, covered barns holding hundreds of stalls, and RV hookups for people staying the weekend. It has run horse and livestock shows year-round since it opened.

No other town on our list has one. What it gives us is a floor problem on a schedule. Friday the trailers come in, Sunday night they go home, and in between boots travel from arena footing to barn aisle to kitchen.

The load lands in the same three places every time: the entry rug, the hallway runner and the mudroom floor. Footing sand drops through the pile and settles at the base. Shavings dust comes in on cuffs and pant legs and grips the fiber. Both read as a dulled lane long before anyone calls them a stain. Monday and Tuesday after a big show are our busiest days in 37353. Our low-moisture carpet cleaning pulls it out and leaves the pile damp rather than wet, with no soapy residue behind to start the next one early.

Lifting that load is where the method matters. A soaking clean pushes fine sand and shavings dust deeper into the backing as often as it lifts them. Our technician treats the lane first, works the pile so the soil lets go at the base, then lifts it out with a measured amount of solution and grooms the fiber so it stands back up. Nothing tacky is left behind, and the carpet stays clean roughly three times longer than it would after a soapy wash.

The work

A lot of floor, one crew, the same care in every room

A McDonald house is usually a big one, set back on its own ground, with four or five carpeted bedrooms, a long hall and at least one staircase. That is a morning's work for one of our crews, and we send our own crew: LocalPro employees, trained by us, in our van. Never a subcontractor.

Before anything starts, the technician walks the house with you, reads the care tag where there is one and says what each room actually needs. Furniture comes up and goes back on protectors, doorways and edges are done by hand, and the rooms you are not having cleaned stay shut.

Every floor in the house gets the same low-moisture process, from a light builder polyester in the bedrooms to a dense nylon in the den to a wool rug in the front room. It is safer for every fiber than a soaking clean. What we spray is non-toxic, chosen so a home full of children and dogs needs no airing out afterwards.

What you should see afterwards is a floor that looks the same in the lane as it does under the bed, and no fresh gray stripe a month later. That last part is the test of a deeper clean, and it is the one our technicians are trained to pass.

What gets booked

What we get asked for out here

Four jobs fill most of our McDonald schedule. Entry and hall runners on their own. Whole-house cleans booked for the week after a show. Pet treatment, because a place with a barn usually has dogs too. And area rugs, cleaned where they lie.

The pet treatment goes after what soaked down into the backing, and the odor removal on it is guaranteed at 100%. Should the smell resurface, we are back out at no charge. Our solutions are eco-friendly and non-toxic, a fair thing to ask where the dogs sleep on the carpet the kids play on.

Area rugs get cleaned in your home, flat on the floor they already live on, and a wool piece, a silk one or a hand-knotted Oriental sets the pace for that part of the visit. Nothing gets carted off your property. The entry rug that took the worst of a show weekend is usually the first thing we put hands on.

One thing worth saying plainly, because it sets our schedule here: McDonald is where people live, not where they work. The paychecks come home from Cleveland, from Chattanooga and from the Ooltewah corridor ten minutes west, so we book early mornings and Saturdays here far more often than a Tuesday at ten.

What the second frame shows

Every pair here is one of our own jobs, photographed by the technician who did the cleaning, once before the work started and once when it was done. The owner went through the whole collection and chose these. Nothing staged, nothing bought from a photo library.

Pet treatment, each roomtypically $30–$40Visits start around $149, odor guarantee included

Protectant and sanitizer each typically add $20 to $30 a room, and a visit carrying either one starts at $119. Furniture is priced by the piece, from $10 for a dining chair up to $140 and beyond for a sofa, on the same trip and invoice as the carpet. Area rugs start at $1 a square foot and are cleaned flat on the floor they lie on. The whole sheet is on the pricing page, and you can pick a time online outside office hours.

One last thing. Love the clean or it's free. If we miss, say so before the technician starts back down your drive and you owe nothing for the visit, printed on the same sheet you approved the price on.

Stays cleaner 3× Longer between cleanings on average vs. a soapy conventional clean

Ever had carpet turn sticky a week after a cleaning?

That tacky feeling is detergent the machine couldn't rinse back out. It dries inside the fiber and stays there, and sticky fiber grabs the next soil that walks through the door.

✓Nothing sticky left behindOur low-moisture process uses a fraction of the water and leaves the fiber clean and bare, so there's no soapy film for dirt to cling to.
✓Stays cleaner about 3× longerOn average, carpet cleaned our way holds its look about three times longer between visits than carpet left with detergent residue in it.
✓No re-soiling a month laterThe gray path that reappears a few weeks after a cleaning is almost always residue pulling soil back. Take the residue away and it stops happening.
✓Dry in about an hourA fraction of the water means no soaked carpet and no box fans running all evening. Furniture, kids and dogs are back on it the same afternoon.

Questions from around White Oak Mountain

Can you come the Monday after a show at Tri-State?

That is one of the more common requests we take out here, and the answer is yes. The Exhibition Center runs horse and livestock shows all year, and the two days after a big weekend are when the phone rings in 37353. Our hours are 8 AM to 6 PM, Monday through Saturday, with Sunday off, so a Sunday-night message gets handled first thing Monday. If you already know the show dates, book the slot before the weekend and we will hold it for you.

Does shavings dust behave differently from ordinary house dust?

It does. These rooms need more than a vacuum. Ordinary house dust is light fabric fiber and skin that sits on top of the pile. Wood shavings break down into a coarse dust that grabs hold of the fiber, and arena footing brings sand along with it that drops to the base of the pile where suction cannot reach. We break the film holding all of it in place, work the pile, and lift it out with very little water. Nothing tacky is left behind for the next show weekend to settle into.

Do you clean the entry runner and the mudroom separately?

Yes, and a fair number of McDonald households book that and nothing else. A hallway or entry run is typically $20 to $30. If the runner is an area rug rather than fitted carpet, it starts at $1 a square foot, the same rate for wool and silk and an Oriental as for anything else, and the work happens right there on your floor. Every visit starts at $99, so a runner and a mudroom floor together is about the smallest job that makes sense to send a technician out for.

How much of the house can you do in one visit out here?

Most of it, and that is usually how these houses get booked. Three rooms up to 450 square feet total start at $109. Rooms after that are typically $40 to $50 each, a large room around $50 to $100, a hall typically $20 to $30, and one flight of stairs around $40 to $50. A five-bedroom on acreage with a hall and one staircase is a morning of work. Our technician measures, prices every line and hands you the total before any equipment comes through the door.

Do you travel past Ooltewah on a scheduled day?

Every week. McDonald is a twenty-five mile drive from downtown Chattanooga, roughly thirty-five minutes out Lee Highway past Ooltewah, and 37353 sits on a standing run toward Cleveland. There is no mileage charge and nothing extra for a rural address; three rooms from $109 is the same starting figure we quote anywhere else on our routes, and every visit starts at $99. Call or text 423-284-0493 for a quote.
