Carpet cleaning in Lookout Valley, for floors people mean to keep
People on this flat between Lookout Mountain and Raccoon Mountain tend to stay put, so the floor we are asked to clean is one the owner means to keep for years. The job is to make it last. Our own technicians do that work, and the grit that dulls a pile is drawn up and carried off.

How the clean works
What dulls a carpet, and how it comes back out

Lookout Creek runs the length of the valley with Lookout Mountain on one side and Raccoon Mountain on the other, and the houses sit on the flat in between.
A carpet goes gray from the bottom up. Grit and fine soil settle at the base of the pile, below the reach of a vacuum, and every step grinds them against the fiber. A clean that soaks the carpet and leaves detergent behind pushes some of that deeper and gives the next layer something to stick to.
Our low-moisture carpet cleaning loosens that soil and carries it out of the fiber, nothing pushed down, with so little water that the room is walkable in about an hour. Nothing sits damp against the backing, and the pile holds its clean about three times longer than a soapy wash leaves it.
Owner's picks
Before and after, with nothing dressed up
Real customers' floors, shot by the technician standing on them. They were pulled out of everything our crews have photographed, from every market we work, so a few belong to houses nowhere near this valley. What they have in common is the process.

Two kinds of house on one route
A ranch on the flat and a new build up the mountain
The valley runs two kinds of house, and the floor inside tells you which before anyone opens a closet. A single-story ranch on Cummings Highway has carpet running the length of the plan, usually the second or third carpet to sit on that floor. A newer house up the hill has hard flooring downstairs and carpet only on the staircase and in the bedrooms.
Both get the same technician and the same read at the door. The fiber gets checked, and how that floor will be handled is explained before anything is unloaded. A long run through a ranch is worked in one direction as one piece. A staircase and two bedrooms is a smaller job than people expect, and worth booking on its own.
The long tenure is the part that matters to us. People here are looking after a floor they mean to keep, so the yearly clean is the sensible buy and the rescue job is rare. Love the clean or it's free. The same floors put that promise to the test year after year.
Up the mountain
Same van, same technician, bottom of the valley to top of the road

The newest addresses in the valley are up River Gorge Drive on the flank of Aetna Mountain, at Black Creek. The road opened in October 2022 and the van gets up it without any trouble.
So a Tuesday out here can open on Cummings Highway in a ranch with carpet the length of the plan and finish at the top of that road, where the only carpet in the building is a staircase and two bedrooms. Same technician either end of the day, and what he puts down is mild enough for the child and the dog who live there. Rugs in either house are cleaned on the owner's own floor, and a sofa gets its tag read first.
How people give directions
Three names for one valley, and the exits in between
Hardly anyone who lives here leads with Lookout Valley. They say Tiftonia, or Wauhatchie, or Brown's Ferry, and they measure the drive in I-24 exits rather than miles.
Tiftonia is the middle stretch either side of Cummings Highway. Wauhatchie is the south end at the rail junction, named after a Cherokee chief who lived along the creek. Brown's Ferry is the north section toward the river, and the oldest house in Hamilton County stands in it, John Brown's Ferry Tavern on Brown's Ferry Road.
Nearly all of this was annexed into the city in 1972 and Wauhatchie came in during 1995, which is how a community sitting behind a mountain from downtown ends up with a Chattanooga address. Lookout Valley Elementary and Lookout Valley Middle/High School are the landmarks we route a day by. Lookout Valley is 5.3 miles from downtown Chattanooga, roughly nine minutes on a clear road.
Settled at the door
What a valley visit includes
A three-room visit starts at $109, taking 450 square feet of carpet between them. A further bedroom, an oversized living room, a flight of stairs or a hall on its own each get walked and measured while you are standing there, and the total is written out and handed over before a machine leaves the van.
Pet work is the addition we are asked for most in the single-story houses on the flat. It goes after what has soaked into the backing, and a 100% pet odor removal guarantee stands behind the result; the detail sits on the pet stain and odor treatment page. Every area rug stays on the floor it already lies on and is worked there, with wool, silk and Oriental given the same patient handling as a synthetic. Nothing of yours goes out the door, as the in-home rug cleaning page explains.

Lookout Valley questions we get on the phone
Is it the same crew every year, or whoever is free that week?
It is our own crew every time. We do not subcontract, so the technician at the door is a trained employee who works to the same process and the same price sheet on every visit. He checks the care label and what the fiber is before anything starts, writes the figure down, and cleans to suit that particular floor. On a valley house we come back to each spring, that consistency is most of what you are paying for. A sanitizer pass, typically $20 to $30 a room, is there if a room has picked up a smell between visits.
Do you drive up River Gorge Drive to the houses on Aetna Mountain?
Yes, and the road is no obstacle. It opened in October 2022 and the van gets up it fine. Carpet in most of those houses is on the staircase and in two or three bedrooms, so the job is smaller than people expect. Three of those rooms together start at $109, each flight of stairs is typically $40 to $50, and every visit starts at $99. Book a morning slot and the rooms are back in use by lunch.
Cash Canyon is outside the city limits. Is it still on your route?
It is. Cash Canyon sits along the river gorge and is the one piece of the valley that never came into the city, while almost everything else was annexed in 1972 and Wauhatchie followed in 1995. The city line makes no difference to the price sheet and there is no travel charge for the last mile. Call 423-284-0493 with your road name and room count and you get a figure on the phone.
Does the hour-to-dry promise still hold in January?
Yes, because of how little water goes into the fiber to begin with. A soaking machine can leave a room damp into the next day, and a room that stays damp is where the sour smell people blame on the dog usually starts. Our process is low-moisture, so the pile is walkable about an hour after we pack up, midwinter included. The house does not need to be empty and the heat does not need turning up.
